Annual memberships begin September 1 of each year and expire the following August 31. The SVSBA supports its member bands by providing:
- Required insurance (value:$1,500.00 per band annually
- A Large Music Library
- Free non-profit status
- Free bookkeeping and banking
- Financial assistance for young artists
- Newsletter to individual SVSBA members
- Subsidies for truck rentals for moving equipment to free-to-the-public concerts
- Arrangements for special bands for celebrations, holidays (Independence Day)
- Stays current with current trends and issues regarding BMI, ASCAP, etc., by membership in the Association of Concert Bands
- Scholarships to needy students for private lessons
